Staff were offering their congratulations this morning as pupils received their A-Level grades. Top performers were Harvey Newiss and Matthew Dopson, who each secured four A*s, and Jonny Macha, Shayan Zeb, Ethan Sanderson and Anson Fong who each secured three A*s.

“I am delighted with the pupils’ performance,” said Mr Marsden, the Head of Sixth Form, “they were a spirited year group and staff have enjoyed teaching them.”

The pupils are destined for a wide range of courses and institutions, reflecting the breadth and interests of the year group, with the majority securing their preferred destination. Five are leaving for the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, with a large number destined for other well-regarded institutions such as the universities of Durham, Warwick, Newcastle and Bristol. Some pupils have won places on highly-coveted apprenticeship schemes; some are entering the work force; and others are taking a year out to travel.

Deputy Head of Sixth Form, Mr Hodgson, remarked that “This year’s change to linear assessment presented a challenge, but everyone can be proud of the way in which the pupils have responded.”

One student said that they have worked hard and were helped to work hard during their time at the school. Another commented that the teaching had inspired a real passion for his subject, which had been confirmed by his visits to prospective universities, and left him very excited about the next stage of his education.

The Headmaster, Mr Evans, said that “I am immensely proud of all of our pupils. They have worked hard for their success and fully deserve their reward. We wish them all well.”
