Ermysted’s Inters become National Champions at the ESCC Cup Final

On Saturday, 25 November, Ermysted’s Intermediate Boys Team (U15s) became National Champions at a fantastic cross-country course at Sevenoaks School in Kent. The team qualified a couple of weeks ago as they won the North East of England round held at Middlesbrough’s Stewart Park. Ermysted’s Inters were joined at the final by not only their junior team but also both teams from Skipton Girls who are also making the National Final an annual event. The weather was lovely, cold but clear and relatively firm underfoot. The course was a joy to run with a purpose built cross-country course that was fit to host a world championship event.

Out of the 157 finishers Ermysted’s had a great chance of victory, with a total of 57 points, but the school had been here before having come runners-up on the national stage twice. There was a ten minute wait whilst all the team scores were collated before elation came for the Skipton side as they were crowned champions!
