16-19 Bursary Fund
In addition to Pupil Premium funding (which is dedicated to support the learning of particular pupils from families facing financial challenges and often living in areas of social or economic deprivation), the School has access to a limited amount of discretionary Bursary money for students in the Sixth Form.

This funding is intended to be used to provide financial support to students aged 16 to 19 to continue with their education and attend the School, when their domestic circumstances might otherwise make their attendance difficult. The money is intended to help with various aspects of participation, for example:
• providing assistance with cost of travel to and from school;
• contributing to the cost of school uniform;
• the purchase of learning resources such as books and equipment;
• participation in curriculum trips;
• attendance at university open days or interviews.

Details of potential eligibility for this money can be obtained in confidence from the School’s Finance Office.

In 2022/23 the amount for discretionary distribution from the 16-19 Bursary Fund was £25,616.

Awards were made to 19 students with the largest sums being allocated to cover the costs of travel to and from School throughout the school year. However, money was also distributed to pay for; items of school uniform, the purchase of learning resources such as books and revision guides, school meals and attendance at university open days and interviews.

A balance remains from 2022/23, this has been ring fenced and carried forward to supplement the amount available for allocation in 2023/24.
